Intellectual disability is not a disease. Intellectual disability is primarily a limitation of a person's intellectual abilities, and not an impairment of his other characteristic skills, such as the ability to be happy or feel good. People with intellectual disabilities need constant, lifelong help and support.

Like any good child, the Eesti Vaimupuudega Inimeste Tugiliidul has several names – EVPIT, Tugiliit or just Vaimukad.
Tugiliit is an association of organizations supporting people with mental disabilities, established in 1990. The support association is necessary for people with mental disabilities and their parents as a place to get independent information and services and a channel to communicate their problems to authorities.
